FAQs
How to remove the speed limit on an electric scooter?
Objective: To unlock the scooter's maximum speed for use in appropriate riding environments.
Steps:
- Turn on the scooter by pressing the power button.
- Hold down the left brake lever (make sure it is fully engaged).
- While holding the brake, quickly press the power button four times.
- The scooter will switch between speed-limited and unlimited modes.
Note: Be careful when driving without a speed limit. Make sure you are in a safe and legal environment to drive at high speeds.
How to convert from Miles (MPH) to Kilometers (KM/H)?
Purpose: Customize speed and distance units according to your region or personal preference.
Steps:
- Turn on the scooter.
- Press the power button five times to enter settings mode.
- Press the power button once to enter P01 (display unit setting).
- Press the right button until the number in the lower right corner of the LED display starts flashing.
- Press once to switch between:
0000 = KM/H
0001 = MPH - Wait until the number stops flashing — the setting will be saved automatically
How to activate or deactivate cruise control mode?
Purpose: Maintain a constant speed without holding the accelerator, convenient for long-distance journeys.
Steps:
- Turn on the scooter.
- Press the power button five times to enter settings mode.
- Press the power button repeatedly until you reach P05 (cruise control setting).
- Press the right button until the number "00000" starts flashing.
- Press once to change the value:
0000 = OFF (regulator disabled)
0001 = ON (regulator activated)
- Wait until the number stops flashing. The mode will then be active.
Note: Cruise control is only activated after maintaining the same accelerator position for several seconds while driving.
How to set the start mode (Zero Start / Non-Zero Start)?
Purpose: Choose whether the scooter can start from a standstill with the throttle alone (Zero Start) or requires a manual kick before accelerating (Non-Zero Start) for added safety.
Steps:
- Turn on the scooter.
- Press the power button five times to enter the settings menu.
- Press the button until you reach P06 (start mode setting).
- Press the right button until the lower right value flashes.
- Press once to choose:
00000 = Zero Start (the accelerator can start the scooter from a standstill)
00001 = Non-Zero Start (a manual kick is required before the accelerator will take effect)
- Wait until the screen stops flashing.
Safety Tip: If you are new to electric scooters, it is recommended to use Non-Zero Start for better control.
P03 – Wheel diameter adjustment!
Purpose: To ensure accurate speed and mileage display by adjusting the digital settings to the actual wheel size of your scooter.
Steps:
- Turn on the scooter, then press the power button five times to enter settings mode.
- Press the power button until you reach P03 .
- Note the actual size of your wheels indicated on the tire (e.g.: 80/65-6.5).
- Press the right button until the value flashes, then adjust it to match the actual diameter of your wheels.
- Wait until the value stops flashing to confirm the setting.
Note: Incorrect wheel diameter adjustment will result in inaccurate speed readings and incorrect battery range estimates.
P04 – Setting the number of motor magnets!
Purpose: The magnet count (number of permanent magnets inside the motor) allows the controller to accurately measure wheel rotation and speed.
Steps:
- Turn on the scooter.
- Press the power button five times to access settings.
- Press to scroll to P04 .
- Press the right button until the number flashes, then confirm or adjust the value.
Note: For all Ruitoo electric scooters, the number of magnets is 40 .
Important: If you change the controller, you must match this value to the actual number of magnets in the motor, otherwise you may encounter problems such as:
- Difficulty starting
- Irregular fluctuations in speed
- Engine overheating
- Vibrations or jolts
